Lady Phyll to give Morning Keynote Address

We are delighted to announce the speaker for the Morning Keynote Address at the upcoming Global Solidarity Summit. Phyll Opoku-Gyimah is executive director and co-founder of UK Black Pride, Europe’s largest celebration for LGBTQ+ people of colour. She is also executive director of Kaleidoscope Trust, the UK’s leading charity advocating for the human rights of LGBTQ+ people across the Commonwealth. She was previously head of equality and learning at the Public and Commercial Services Union, has sat on the Trades Union Congress race relations committee, and has acted as a trustee for the LGBTQ+ rights charity Stonewall. She is widely known as Lady Phyll, partly due to her decision to reject an MBE to protest against Britain’s role in formulating anti-LGBTQ+ penal codes across its empire.

The Global Solidarity Summit brings together individuals and organisations from Wales working on solidarity projects across the world. From small community groups to Wales-based branches of international NGOs, we’re raising the profile of the sector in Wales.

The 2023 Summit will take place on Tuesday 23rd May at the University of South Wales Conference Centre in Treforest and online.
