Tina Fahm Appointed Chair of Hub Cymru Africa

Hub Cymru Africa has appointed Tina Fahm as the new Independent Chair of its Partnership Board.

Tina Fahm has forged a highly successful career as an expert in governance, risk and compliance, working across various industry sectors, institutions and parliaments. She has over 30 years’ experience in helping organisations to maintain robust governance and assurance frameworks, and to manage risk effectively. Her work supports private equity and a range of investments across Africa. Tina has also served on the boards of charitable organisations concerned with social housing, gender equality and the interests of people with learning disabilities.

Born in Nigeria, Tina briefly lived in the UK as a young child before moving to Zambia, where she grew up and spent her formative years. She went on to study for a bachelor’s and master’s degree at Birkbeck, University of London. She now lives in Blackwood, Wales.

Tina Fahm, newly appointed Independent Chair of Hub Cymru Africa, said:

“I’m very excited that I have this opportunity to use my knowledge, skills and expertise to serve in this way, particularly at this crucial moment in time for Africa.

“The global solidarity sector is under threat. Democracy and so many of the values and hard-won rights we hold dear are at risk. We need to be vigilant, as none of us should take them for granted. Part of that includes committing to partnerships. We need to work together, embrace each other and deepen our understanding of each other. I hope that Hub Cymru Africa will grow in strength as a facilitator and driving force for global solidarity partnerships.”

At a time where the challenges of climate change and the need for global partnership is more urgent than ever, we are delighted to have appointed a Chair who shares our values and has a deep knowledge of the UK and African contexts.

“Tina has already demonstrated her vision and enthusiasm for the global solidarity sector in Wales, presenting her vision at our recent summer summit in Cardiff. We look forward to her continuing contribution.”

Tina is joining Hub Cymru Africa at an exciting time with the imminent launch of a new strategy and an Anti-Racism Charter suitable for our post-pandemic world. She will help Hub Cymru Africa deliver its collective vision for the partnership and for the global solidarity sector in Wales.
