VSLAs: A Pathway to Economic Empowerment and Sustainability

Sustainable LivelihoodsShared Learning Event Online event Zoom Register

Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA) are one of the most effective grassroots models of financial inclusion and poverty reduction in marginalised communities.

Join this inspirational and educational shared learning session to hear from experts in the field and success stories.

There will be discussions on gender roles in VSLAs and innovative approaches to financial inclusion. The event is suitable for anyone with interest in global solidarity. It will be an opportunity to learn, connect, and be part of a growing movement for change.

In rural areas of Africa, formal banking remains a challenge due to long travel times to facilities, unavailable or inaccessible transportation or where the community is deprived; VSLAs however are transforming lives. They are community-based, member-owned financial services that allow individuals, especially women and vulnerable households, to save, obtain credit, and invest in small businesses. They unlock opportunities where there are few or none.
