Safeguarding Refresher

Webinar Online event Zoom Register
Safeguarding Surgery by Hub Cymru Africa

For anyone who has completed international development safeguarding training in the past two years who would like to refresh their practice through discussion of case studies.

This refresher training is for those who have completed a Safeguarding training with Hub Cymru Africa (or equivalent) more than two years ago, or those who have previously completed a training and simply want to refresh and deepen their knowledge.

This training is for staff, volunteers and trustees of organisations working in partnership in the Wales and Africa sector, who want to improve their safeguarding policy and practices.

The training will allow participants to take a more in-depth look at:

  • How to handle an incident: response, reporting
  • Co-production with partners and communities and things to consider
  • Key documents: what do you have in place now? What do you need?

The training will use case studies to work through Safeguarding practice and highlight best practice. If you have a scenario you would like to work through, please email advice@hubcymruafrica.wales.

There will also be an opportunity to share experience, ask questions, and find out where to go for further resources.

Organisations who are applying for the Welsh Government Wales and Africa Grant Scheme need key staff to have completed a Safeguarding training (Essentials, or Refresher, and Focal Point if relevant) in the last two years to be eligible for a grant or be willing to complete one as a condition of award. Equivalent safeguarding trainings in an international context are also acceptable.

For organisations working in Wales, please see the Wales national safeguarding training and learning development standards which detail the required safeguarding training for practitioners work in Wales. It is recommended that everyone (staff, volunteers, trustees) in your organisation in Wales completes the Safeguarding Group A module to begin their safeguarding learning, or as a refresher, prior to Hub Cymru Africa training.
