Events & community support volunteer

Location

Optional from home or at the office in Windsor Place, Cardiff (negotiable)

Commitment 

6 hours a week for 3 months (generally one 6 hour day, or two days of 3 hours) starting in July or August, with also the possibility of extending the volunteer placement.

Placement Purpose

The volunteer will help with the planning and running of Fairtrade Fortnight 2026. Fairtrade Fortnight is a time to raise awareness of the need for a fairer way to trade, show support for farmers and producers around the world and celebrate Wales’ commitment as the world’s first Fair Trade Nation. Each year, Fair Trade Wales coordinates Fairtrade Fortnight in Wales, organising awareness raising events, gaining media coverage and supporting local community groups across Wales.

The volunteer role will include:

•     Participate in Fairtrade Fortnight planning meetings
•     Support the planning of and attend our engagement event with the Senedd
•     Liaise with Fair Trade groups in Wales to gather information on events
•     Order and arrange the distribution of resources
•     Review and provide content for our website as appropriate
•     Attend other local events and gather content for use on our communication platforms
•     Assist with the scheduling, setting up and administration of Fairtrade Fortnight 2026 activities

 Skills and competence

•     Interest in Fair Trade
•     Familiarity with Google Mail and Drive, or ability to pick up IT skills quickly
•     Enthusiastic and confident communicator – in writing, on the phone and one to one
•     Ability to show initiative and work confidently alone and as part of a team
•     Welsh speaking desirable but not essential
