In Wales, safeguarding means preventing and protecting children and adults at risk from abuse or neglect and educating those around them to recognise the signs and dangers.
The Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 underpins Safeguarding work in Wales.
The national Safeguarding Procedures-Welsh Government detail the essential roles and responsibilities for practitioners to ensure that they safeguard children and adults who are at risk of abuse and neglect.
The Procedures helps practitioners apply the legislation Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014 and statutory safeguarding guidance Working Together to Safeguard People.
