Reproductive Rights in Sub-Sahara Africa | Gender Community of Practice

Isimbi Sebegeni gives an overview of the situation, looking at the challenges of reproductive rights in Sub-Saharan Africa, narrowing down to Kenya.

Guest speaker Betty Ngeno will talk about her work as a gender specialist based in Kenya, campaigning for reproductive rights. She will give us an opportunity to learn and gain practical tips on understanding the barriers women face accessing reproductive health support in Kenya.

Isimbi is Hub Cymru’s Diaspora and Inclusion Officer. She is passionate about women and reproductive health on the African continent. She has conducted two qualitative primary research studies on the determinants, influences and perceptions of family planning use among women in Sub-Saharan Africa, specifically Uganda. When it comes to her academic career, She has a B.A (Hons) Social Sciences and a Masters in Gender Studies.

Betty Ngeno is a gender expert working with Girls in Global as Gender Equality Ambassador for Kenya. She is a development expert who is guided by the principles of gender equality and equity, respect for human rights, women’s empowerment, child protection and team work for the attainment of sustainable development.
