It’s important to think about Safeguarding when you are recruiting for staff, volunteers, or anyone associated with your organisation. A good first step is to risk assess the positions you are recruiting for according to who they will come into contact with, including online contact, and what level of risk that represents.

Follow a safe recruitment process, considering safeguarding throughout the cycle of creating the job description, advertising, shortlisting, interviewing, references and vetting, contracting, and induction and training, including expected behavioural standards.
