Who is this training for?
Designated Safeguarding Focal points are recommended to complete this training as a prerequisite for the Safeguarding Focal Point training.
Note: this training is a requirement under the WCVA grant scheme for staff, volunteers or trustees in Wales who are travelling, or engaged in programme activity, and staff and volunteers in African partners who have a role in safeguarding.

There will be some pre-work for this training in order to make best use of the group session.
This training will take place online via Zoom, and is a participatory training.
It is recommended to join from a computer or laptop if this is possible, to enable participation.

Sarah Mwebaze is a Uganda based technical specialist in safeguarding, with over 20 years experience in safeguarding and child protection. Their background includes implementing robust safeguarding frameworks to protect vulnerable adults in complex settings across sub -Saharan Africa, as well as working as an Advisory specialist to Plan International, and Partners in Health. Sarah has been working with Hub Cymru Africa and the Wales Africa community since 2024, co-facilitating training and providing technical advice and support.
