Advocating for your charity

Sharing the Wales and Africa sector’s 10 priorities for the next Welsh Government

Policy and CampaignsWebinar Online event Zoom Register

Small charities, Health partnerships and community groups across Wales play a powerful role in building meaningful, long‑term partnerships with organisations and communities in African countries. They also effectively campaign for Fair Trade and improved global solidarity and peace.

Yet many of us struggle to access the funding, recognition and policy support needed to keep this work thriving. Hub Cymru Africa has worked with small charities and community groups across Wales who link with organisations and communities in African countries to create 10 recommendations for the current and future Welsh Government. These recommendations champion the needs of small, volunteer‑led

groups and highlight the value of global solidarity and your work.

From expanding the Wales and Africa Programme, to strengthening ethical health partnerships, to supporting diaspora‑led initiatives, Fair Trade commitments, climate justice and global citizenship education, these proposals are designed to help your charity continue making a real difference.

This session will explore:

  • Why these 10 recommendations matter for small Wales–Africa organisations, Health Partnerships and Fair Trade community groups
  • How they can help you access funding, build stronger partnerships and sustain your work
  • Practical ways you can share and promote these recommendations within your networks
  • How collective advocacy can ensure the Wales–Africa sector remains strong, visible and well supported as we move into a new Government for Wales after the elections.

Join us for a focused, energising discussion about how your voice, as trustees, founders and volunteers, can help shape a more globally responsible Wales. Together, we can make sure the next Welsh Government supports your partnerships to continue to flourish for years to come.
