Groups using disruptive protest and direct action to force climate change up the public agenda. Three types of work supported: bold, high-visibility direct actions in countries with less developed climate movements; large-scale disruptive protest organising in countries with established movements; and movement infrastructure e.g. training programmes, technical or financial systems, network-building. Does not fund litigation, bail funds, conservation projects, art/theatre/film work, political campaigns or illegal activities.

Location:

N.B. The Global South/Global North/developing countries terms are inaccurate and misleading. First, they are descriptively inaccurate, even when they refer to general notions such as (economic) development. Second, they are homogenizing, obscuring important differences between countries supposedly part of the Global South and North groups. In this respect, these terms are no better than alternatives that they are trying to replace, such as ‘the West‘ or the ‘Third World‘. Third, the Global South/Global North terms imply a geographic determinism that is wrong and demotivational. Poor countries are not doomed to be poor, because they happen to be in the South, and their geographic position is not a verdict on their developmental prospects. The correct terms are low or medium-income countries.

BBC Radio 4 Appeal

On average charities raise between GBP £5,000 and GBP £20,000
Eligibility:
You must be a UK charity registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) or the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland. It must be at least 3 years since your charity last broadcast a Radio 4 or Lifeline appeal. It must be at least 1 year since any unsuccessful application by your charity for a Radio 4 or Lifeline appeal. You must be able to provide at least one set of audited or independently examined financial statements and up-to-date management accounts within a 3 month period.

Eligibility:
UK registered charities with an income between GBP £25,000 and GBP £2.5 million. Charities must have at least three years of continuous accounts submitted to the relevant UK Charity Commission or Regulator. Charities must be financially sound and registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator or the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland.
