The objective of the Trust is to support deserving charitable causes that the Trustees think are undertaking worthwhile activities generally, but not exclusively, located within the home counties of England or alternatively those that have a connection to one of the Trustees. Some charities are also supported that benefit people living in low- and middle-income countries including Africa, Asia and the West Indies where there is a specific connection to a Trustee. All charities must have demonstrated to the Trustees a worthy need for grant funding. The beneficiaries of our grant making policy need to explain how any granted funds will be utilized and allow Trustees to verify the utilization of granted funds from time to time. The Trustees currently meet twice a year and are encouraged to bring suggestions to the meeting of charities that they think should be considered for funding.
During the year grants totalling GBP £621,495 (2024: GBP £616,282) were agreed of which GBP £57,000 went to ‘international’ grantees. The Trust does not usually make multi-year grant commitments although occasionally organisations have been supported over a period of years
