Network for Empowered Aid Response (NEAR)´s The Change Fund
Type of project: The Change Fund is a funding mechanism created to provide quick, flexible and focused emergency response funding to community-based local organisations in 27 priority countries in the Global South. With localisation as its core pillar, an essential criterion is that beneficiary organisations are embedded within their communities; that is, woven into the social fabric of the communities they serve. There are currently no restrictions on what activities can be implemented with the funds as long as they contribute to alleviating the challenges faced by a community in crisis.
Location: Latin America, Middle East, Africa and Asia
Eligibility: Applicants must made by NEAR members when a crisis is declared. The two most essential requirements for grant approval are: 1. an active registration or licence from a government authority confirming non-governmental or non-profit status;
2. a copy of the organisation’s most recent financial report.
Grant size: more than US$ 1 million has been disbursed to eight organisations to date.
