Guernsey Overseas Aid Commission Multi Year Grant Aid Funding
Type of project: The Commission’s Grant Aid policy focuses on sustainable development and humanitarian aid to improve a community’s basic needs. “Basic needs” includes sustainable supply of clean water, basic sanitation facilities, agricultural, horticultural or fishing projects, medical and health care facilities and educational projects amongst others. For multi-year awards, projects should either demonstrate a particular focus on: Reaching the furthest first (i.e. at least 80% of the direct beneficiaries are from a marginalised group (e.g. on grounds of disability, ethnicity, displacement, etc.); or – Mitigating the impact of climate change, though e.g. a programme to protect agricultural land from the encroachment of desertification; land irrigation; use of solar energy to mitigate reliance on charcoal, etc.
Location: countries in the lowest quartile of the UN Human Development List. See appendix 1 of this document.
Eligibility: Guernsey registered charities and UK registered charities which are also
registered as a company for charitable purposes may apply. Specific multiyear funding eligibility includes that an applicant must have: been registered for at least 5
years prior to application; successfully completed at least 2 projects funded by the
Commission in the preceding 5 years; an average annual income in each of
the 4 years preceding the application of more than £350,000.
Grant size: Up to £165,000 over 3 years (£55,000 per year). The commission expects to make approximately 6 awards.
