Darwin Initiative Capability & Capacity

Type of project: The Darwin Initiative is a UK government grants scheme that helps conserve biodiversity and support the communities that live alongside it through locally led projects worldwide. Projects should focus on developing the capability and capacity of national and local organisations to efficiently deliver effective and successful biodiversity conservation and multidimensional poverty reduction projects. Projects should last between 1 to 2 years maximum.

Location: ODA eligible countries. See Annex A of the guidance for a full list. Note that 70% of funding will be allocated to Low Income and Lower-Middle Income Countries.

Eligibility: Lead organisations can be based anywhere but we strongly encourage projects to have in-country lead organisations where possible.

Grant size: £50,000 and £200,000
