This Pride Month, join Hub Cymru Africa and SSAP for a talk as part of our “Back to Basics” series.
We invite you to explore gender with us as we listen to perspectives from two African individuals – Zee Monteiro and Linda Devo.
This talk will provide attendees with a brief introduction to understanding gender outside of mainstream cis-hetero white-centric understandings.
We invite:
- Those new to working within or considering joining the Wales and Africa community and would like to learn more about inclusivity
- Anyone who wants be operate more inclusively of all genders
- Those unsure of how to engage with people of diverse genders and want to understand how to communicate in a more inclusive manner.
Pride Month is currently celebrated each year in the month of June to honour the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in the United States of America.
It’s about people coming together in love and friendship, to show how far lgbtq+ rights have come, even if in some places there’s still some work to be done.
Pride month is about teaching inclusion, tolerance and education in pride history, and continuing to move forward in equality.
It calls for people to remember how damaging homophobia was and still is.
It’s all about being proud of who you are no matter who you love.
